Viper Room: Blacklist Union

One of the great things about living in the Los Angeles area is all the great clubs you can stroll into. Downtown, Hollywood, Long Beach, Pasadena, etc. To many hot spots to name, so it's never to difficult to find something to do in this city.

Saturday night (3.03.07) I took my wife out to the Viper Room on the Sunset Strip, in W. Hollywood. There was supposed to be 3 bands playing that night so I was ready for a good show. The bar was pretty dead when we showed up but we got there a little early. After 30 minutes or so, the first band took the stage. I wasn't to moved by this band and from the look of the crowd, I wasn't the only one!

The second band, Blacklist Union, took the stage around 12:15am. They had a "unique" fashion style and I could swear the lead singer was Tommy Lee. I noticed the bar was quickly filling up and I wondered why there was such a sudden rush of people filling the place. The band started playing and I now knew why the place was suddenly so crowded! The music was awesome and the band members were real performers! I was most impressed with the drummer, who had me nodding my head the whole time with his crazy drum lines.

We didn't even stick around to hear the 3rd band. Just bought my wife a Blacklist Union CD & hat and made our way home. I was a little disappointed that a lot of the songs they played live are from their upcoming album, and weren't on the CD I purchased. I'll just have to look for their new release when it drops! For those who enjoy indie rock/punk type of music, you won't be disappointed with this band!

Disclaimer: I have nothing to do with this band. I never even heard of them before that night. Just enjoyed their music so much I decided to write a little bit about them.
